Frederick T. Pye
President & CEO
FREDERICK T. PYE – President & CEO Frederick T. Pye is the President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of 3iQ Corp. Mr. Pye is recognized for creating and promoting creative and unique investment products for the investment industry.
Mr. Pye has managed private client portfolios with Landry Investment Management and various other investment dealers. Prior to this Mr. Pye was Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer of Argentum Management and Research Corporation, a company dedicated to managing and distributing quantitative investment portfolios including the first long-short mutual fund in Canada.
He was also Senior Vice-President and National Sales Manager of Fidelity Investments Canada and an integral part of the team that saw assets rise from $80 million to over $7.5 billion in assets under management during his tenure. He also held various positions with Guardian Trust Company, which listed the first Gold, Silver and Platinum Certificates on the Montreal Exchange.
Mr. Pye obtained a Masters in Business Administration from Concordia University and is a member of the Board of the Anglican Funds and the West Island Youth Residence.
Howard J. Atkinson, CFA, CIMA®, ICD.D
Howard J. Atkinson was President of TMFD Financial (TMFD), focusing on business development and corporate strategy. Prior to joining TMFD he was a founder and president of Horizons ETFs Management Inc. and over his three decades in financial services has held executive positions with Mackenzie Financial Corporation, CI Funds and Barclays Global Investors Canada Ltd.
His board experience spans public and private companies as well as non – profit organizations. He is the past founding chair of the Canadian ETF Association and a past president of CFA Society Toronto.
He is the author of four books including The New Investment Frontier III: A Guide to Exchange Traded Funds for Canadians, (Insomniac Press, 2005). Mr. Atkinson holds the CFA, CIMA® and ICD.D designations.
Anthony Cox, CPA, CA, ICD.D
Chief Financial Officer
Tony Cox has more than 15 years’ experience in Canada and the United Kingdom with major accounting firms and over 25 years of experience in the investment fund industry in Canada.
Tony’s background includes: eleven years as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Spectrum United Mutual Funds Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada) from its inception in 1987 to $7 billion of assets under management in 1998; eleven years as Director and Chief Operating Officer of NBF Turnkey Solutions Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Bank Financial Inc).
Prior to joining 3iQ, Mr. Cox also served as President of Canadian Fund Management Inc. and provided consulting and contract services to investment fund managers, including Purpose Investments and CIBC Mellon.
Tony has been very active in the industry, serving on many Investment Funds Institute of Canada committees and is a past director of FundServ Inc.
Tony is currently a member of the Independent Review Committees of PIMCO Canada Funds, WisdomTree ETFs, Connor, Clark & Lunn Funds, and was previously a member of the Questrade ETFs IRC. He is also Vice President and Board Member of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Ontario. He is a CPA, CA and holds the ICD.D designation.
Thomas G. Staudt
Tom has been with ARK Investment Management (New York) for almost 3 years, and currently serves as the Interim Chief Operating Officer, managing the daily operation of ARK’s products and strategies, in addition to managing the strategic operations of the firm. Tom also serves as Director of Product Development, evaluating and implementing ARK’s product portfolio.
Prior to joining ARK, Tom worked in a media sales and consulting role for WILX. Before WILX, Tom spent time with Fidelity Investments in their mutual fund department, and he has also consulted on Millennial investing behavior to TIAA-CREF.
Tom received his Bachelor of Business Administration, magna cum laude, in Finance and Economics from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Arts in Telecommunications Policy from Michigan State University, a Master of Science in New Media Management from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, and his Master of Business Administration from Cornell University.
Tom is also currently the President of the ARK ETF Trust.
Greg Foss has 25 years of experience in pricing and trading corporate credit and credit related structures.
Prior to joining 3iQ Greg was Senior Portfolio Manager at Fiera Quantum LP where he was co head of Credit Strategy for the Fiera Quantum Diversified Alpha Fund and the Canadian ABCP Fund. Fiera purchased the funds from GMPIM where Greg was a managing Partner and Head Credit Trader.
Previously, Greg spent five years as Vice President and Partner at Marret Asset Management where he was co-manager of the 2005 Morningstar “Canadian High Yield Bond Fund of the Year”.
Greg has been published in the Financial Analysts Journal and the Journal of Commercial Lending on the subject of pricing credit risk.
Greg holds an MBA from the Johnson School of Business, Cornell University (1988) and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from McGill University (1986).
Richard Strauss has over 25 years of experience in the U.S. securities industry. Most of his career was spent at Goldman Sachs where he was a Senior Financial Services Analyst in charge of Investment Management, Brokerage, Investment Banking and Money Center Bank research coverage.
While at Goldman, he also played an important role in marketing the Firm’s 1999 IPO to institutional investors worldwide. After leaving Goldman, Richard was a Director at Deutsche Bank covering Financial Services. Earlier, he had been at Salomon Brothers, covering superregional and regional banks.
Currently, he is President and managing member of Kensington Partners, a trading operation, Richard holds both an MBA and BA from Cornell University.
Daniel is a leader in the real estate industry; he possesses over 30 years of experience in acquisition, integration of real estate assets and real estate corporations, as well as asset management and financial structuring. Mr. Dorey is Managing Director of OneCap Financial Corp.
Daniel occupied the position of Senior VP at Canada Lands Corporation where he was responsible for the development of Crown Lands in the province of Quebec and the overall operations of La Société du Vieux-Port de Montréal. Previously, he was President of Oxford Quebec, where he was involved in the acquisition of real estate assets valued at $1 Billion and directly responsible for managing the real estate portfolio.
Prior to Oxford, Mr. Dorey founded Koral Properties, which became one of the largest property management firms in Quebec within a 5-year period. He has also worked for Trust General’s Institutional-Commercial-Industrial property brokerage division, for Edgecombe Realty Advisors and for Mercantile Bank-National Bank.
Mr. Dorey sat on the boards of the Youth Protection Division Foundation (DPJ), past chairman, Urban Development Institute; board of the Montreal Economic Institute (presently on the Governors board), World Presidents’ Organization (WPO); and the Quebec Board of Directors of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
He holds a MBA from McGill University and a Bachelor’s degree from Bishop’s University.
David Carter, CPA, CBP
Executive Vice President
David is a Finance and Operations executive who excels at design and delivery of business strategy, and has broad experience in Technology solutions, Health Care and Legal Services, and Board governance. He brings a unique history of financial and forensic acumen, resource optimization, innovation, and collaborative team leadership to achieve organizational outperformance in both human capital and fiscal terms.
An alumnus of Deloitte and J&J, Dave has also been a serial entrepreneur in health and technology fields. He is curious by nature, with a particular interest in emerging technologies and innovations. Since early 2016 Dave has been immersed in different blockchain ecosystems where he has networked, participated, advised and invested several times over personally in cryptocurrencies, and other crypto assets including ICOs .
David is a CPA, CA, a CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) and a CBP (Certified Bitcoin Professional).
Tanvir S. Sodhi
Vice President of Operations
Tanvir is the Vice President of Operations of 3iQ Corp.
Prior to joining 3iQ Corp., Tanvir was Director of Operations at Questrade Wealth Management Inc., where he developed operational excellence across the firm in addition to building high performance teams, process and infrastructure in the areas of compliance, trading, technology and investment operations. He played an integral role in successfully setting up and launching eight exchange traded funds on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
In the course of his career, Tanvir has held senior roles in fund administration, product development, operations and compliance with some of the top Canadian bank owned securities firms, custodians, administrators and asset management companies. He is an innovative and leading industry executive who brings a wealth of successful experiences in growing businesses and processes.
Katrina Chua Ginsburg
Vice President Business Development
Kay has been on the forefront of traditional and innovative investment products for over 10 years while managing client relationships and accounts for ultrahigh net worth individuals. Her expertise covers the full investment management cycle for both institutional and retail investors. Her success in this is rooted from a deep understanding of processes in investor relations and business integration for private enterprises, publicly traded companies, and not-for-profit organizations.
Prior to joining 3iQ Corp., Kay has had a diverse range of experience including client services and inside sales at RP Investment Advisors, a preeminent Canadian fixed-income hedge fund with over $4 billion in assets under management, where she also mentored several associates. Kay has also gained valuable experience its alternative investment platform. Her professional network has continually expanded from collaborating with Chairman council member teams of traditional wealth management firms such as ScotiaMcLeod, to independent investment dealers such as GMP Private Client, Macquarie Private Wealth, and Dundee Goodman Private Wealth.
Kay holds an Honours Bachelor in Administrative and Commercial Studies degree from the University of Western Ontario, with a specialty in finance and administration. She is an active member of a women’s volunteer organization, the Junior League of Toronto, under the umbrella of the Association of Junior Leagues International.
Senior Advisor, Business Development and Strategy
Tony is an investment executive with over 23 years of trading, sales, and leadership experience in financial technology, alternative investments, and capital markets.
Tony’s career includes 17 years at BMO Capital Markets where he played an instrumental role in building BMO Capital’s fixed income trading, distribution, and research capabilities across Canada, U.S. and Europe. In 2011 Tony moved on to become Managing Director and Head FICC Sales for Bank of America Merrill Lynch Canada. During his time at BAML Tony played a leadership role in growing the Canadian franchise, and was part of the firm’s operating committee responsible for strategic planning.
An increased interest in alternative investments, financial technology (Fintech), and entrepreneurship eventually led Tony to senior management teams at Dundee Global Investment Management, fintech startup Overbond, and then to founding his own consultancy firm, TRIACS Capital Advisors. In addition to providing business development services to asset managers and hedge funds, TRIACS provides strategy, marketing, and financial advisory services to early-stage organizations in areas such as the technology, health care, and clean energy.
Tony’s strong financial background is complimented by a background in sciences. His passion is to help nourish innovation and provide investors with new opportunities for portfolio diversification and improved risk-adjusted returns. Tony has cultivated trustworthy client relationships with key industry and government players in finance and technology, institutional money managers, family offices/HNW, consultants, hedge-funds, and non-profit organizations across Canada and internationally.
Tony holds a MBA from the Rotman School of Management where he graduated on the Dean’s List, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Physics from the University of Toronto.
Quebec Regional Sales Manager
Dominic joins the 3iQ team after 15 years involved in Sports and R&D industries. Dominic started his career as an R&D project consultant, and after completing hundreds of successful projects, he took on the role of General Manager at Groupe Recherche Inc, and more recently at Mé-ga Services R&D.
He also brings extensive experience in Event Management having been an integral part of many successful PGA TOUR events all over the world. As a Director, he was involved in sponsorship sales, logistics, and management. His golf background also permitted him to join the PGA TOUR Competition Committee responsible for managing and refereeing professional golf tournaments.
Dominic graduated from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce majoring in Finance. He is also involved in different programs teaching golf to kids.
Western Regional Sales Manager
Carolyn Dunlop comes to 3iQ with 10 years of experience in the brokerage and investment industry. She joins 3iQ and returns to the investment industry after working in pharmaceutical sales for the last 14 years in BC where she won numerous achievement awards for launching and selling many lifesaving medications. What stands out for Carolyn is her relationship building skills, strategic thinking, the high level of attention she pays to meeting customer needs and being a solid resource of knowledge.
Carolyn started her career in the brokerage industry in Montreal with DPM Financial and soon partnered with 3iQ CEO, Fred Pye, as an investment advisor at Wallace Dewan/Gordon Private Client. She relocated to Vancouver in her investment advisory role and built a solid client base with Midland Walwyn/Merrill Lynch which was later acquired by CIBC Wood Gundy.
Carolyn graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in finance from Concordia University and is the founder and President of BC Camp Choice Society, a non-profit organization that raises funds and hosts an annual week-long summer camp for at-risk youth in the Vancouver Lower Mainland.
Independent Advisory Committee
Francis Pouliot is the cofounder of Catallaxy, a blockchain expertise and R&D centre. He is also Chief Executive Officer and founder of Satoshi Portal and Bylls. Satoshi Portal is a Bitcoin startup which facilitates the purchase and sale of bitcoins. The portal develops, implements and operates Bitcoin services software and applications which aim at increasing the accessibility and adoption of cryptocurrency at the retail, end-user level. Bylls is a Bitcoin payments and exchange service which allows Canadians to pay bills and send bank transfers to Canadian individuals and businesses with Bitcoin.
Francis is a Member of the Board of the Bitcoin Foundation and the former Director of Public Affairs of the Bitcoin Embassy. He is an effective Fintech entrepreneur and a community leader in the Bitcoin industry.
Francis is a Blockchain researcher and analyst. As a former public policy analyst and economist, Francis graduated from King’s College London with a M.A. with Distinction in Public Policy.
Doyle Capital Management
JACK TATAR is co-author of “Cryptoassets: The Innovative Investor’s Guide to Bitcoin and Beyond”.
Jack has over two decades of experience in financial services including as a financial advisor and executive with Merrill Lynch, and as owner of GEM Research Solutions, a leading research provider to the financial services industry.
He is an angel investor and advisor to startups in the cryptoasset community, and speaks and writes frequently on the topic.
He was one of the first financial professionals to receive certification from the Digital Currency Council and is the coauthor of one of the earliest books on Bitcoin, What’s the Deal with Bitcoins? as well as numerous books on retirement and finance.
Jeremy is an expert in Cryptography and Cyber Security. Jeremy Clark is an assistant professor at the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Waterloo, where his gold medal dissertation was on designing and deploying secure voting systems including Scantegrity — the first cryptographically verifiable system used in a public sector election. He wrote one of the earliest academic papers on Bitcoin, completed several research projects in the area, and contributed to the first textbook.
Beyond research, he has worked with several municipalities on voting technology and testified to the Canadian Senate on Bitcoin.
